When you hear the word of “Palace”, you will imagine a fairy tale palace that looks like a Buckingham Palace, but here in Bali island, you will see a different kind of palace that has its own beauty and the atmosphere of the kingdom preserved through time.
The Ubud Palace is also known as Puri Saren Ubud. It is located in the main street of Ubud, Gianyar Regency, Bali. The Ubud Palace is a gorgeous royal palace with traditional houses where the Ubud King lived. The existence of this palace show the soul and the identity of the people in the Ubud village itself. Even though the feudal has been long gone, but the role of Tjokorda still means a lot for the Ubud community. Although there is no formal power, but the duke of Ubud still obey the order just because of their descendants.

Now, the Ubud Palace act as the traditional culture reposition, which is the main protector of the art, music dance, and Bali literature. The existence of the Ubud Palace in a place with cool weather is full with high aesthetic items, besides the gorgeous and charming architecture of the building, makes this palace capable to give peace to everyone who visit this place. The Ubud palace also equipped with an auditorium (“wantilan”) that has a function as a meeting place.
The Ubud Palace was built by Ida Tjokorda Putu Kandel that rule from 1800 to 1823. This palace is located about 22 km from Denpasar city and it only took 35 minutes drive to reach this palace. The Ubud Palace has become one of the proofs of the preservation of history and cultural heritage in Ubud, Bali, where the people have always preserved their nature and customs in a religious ceremony.
